TimeNExT - The Future Of Time
Timex/CORE 77 (2004)

Design Objective:
Envision future concepts in timekeeping devices in the year 2154. Examine ways to embody and communicate time on an individual level so that it is both personal and portable.

Design Solution:
A wrist-based device that houses and controls microscopic nanobots. The nanobots are attached to the entire surface of the hand like a glove. In their dormant state they are transparent so it appears that only a wrist piece is being worn. The nanobots can change their arrangement and color for notification and presenting information like moving pixels.

TimeNExT is contextually aware and intelligent so it can suggest things to do within any available time interval based on its knowledge of everything around it and personal behaviors and preferences. TimeNExT constantly adapts to you as you move through life.

Result:
When there is a delay in a dependent event that affects your schedule, the nanobots send a notification by tapping on the palm and displaying a message on the surface of the skin. Touching an icon on the wrist plate activates the nanobots to rearrange themselves into a display with detailed information.

By removing a large degree of time uncertainty, TimeNExT gives you the freedom to lead a less hurried, more serendipitous lifestyle free from worry about wasting time.
