Design Objective:
Design a system to incorporate an Obus Forme backrest into a standard wheelchair frame. Make use of the Obus Forme posture support in the design.

Design Solution:
A fabric adapter panel covered in Velcro hook is fixed to the wheelchair frame. An Obus Forme backrest with specially fitted loop is then attached securely to the adapter panel. The adapter panel consists of four tensioning straps that allow the adjustment of the seat depth and back angle for comfort and posture. A final piece of fabric attaches to the rear to prevent accidental tampering.

Result:
The back kit system uses a proven, off-the-shelf seating product in place of a standard seat back. This provides improved seating comfort for people who are required to sit in a wheelchair for extended periods. The product also has the advantage that the Obus Forme backrest can be easily removed for folding wheelchairs.
